ADHD Assessment and Treatment in Dubai

Find focus, balance, and better routines

Dubai moves fast, and staying on top of work and life takes focus and strong executive function. If the usual strategies do not work for you, it may be because your brain works differently.

Adult ADHD is not laziness or lack of discipline. It can affect attention, time management, and organisation. At Valens Clinic, we offer a holistic approach that may include evidence-based therapy, practical coaching, and personalised medication management when appropriate.

You do not need to push harder. You need a plan that fits how your brain works

Understanding Adult ADHD

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulse control, and activity levels. It is often described as a childhood disorder, but it frequently continues into adulthood and can look different from the stereotypical hyperactive child.

In adults, it may show up as missed deadlines, difficulty organising and prioritising, forgetfulness, and ongoing inner restlessness. These patterns relate to executive function and dopamine regulation, not laziness or lack of intelligence. Understanding ADHD as a difference in brain wiring is the first step toward the right support

When to Consider Professional ADHD Support

Adult ADHD can show up in subtle ways that are easy to dismiss as stress or burnout. If you recognise any of the patterns below and they are affecting your work, daily life, or relationships, it is a good idea to book a professional assessment for an accurate diagnosis and the right support plan

Career and Workplace Challenges

Missing deadlines, running late, or leaving tasks until the last minute despite strong effort. Feeling capable, but scattered or inconsistent at work

Executive Function Struggles

Planning, organizing, and follow-through feel harder than they should. Routines break quickly, and everyday admin like bills and long-term tasks becomes overwhelming

Relationship Impact

Forgetting details, losing track in conversations, interrupting, or replying late without meaning to. These patterns can create misunderstandings, guilt, and tension

Internal Restlessness

A busy mind that never fully slows down, even when you are sitting still. Constant mental chatter, fidgeting, or seeking stimulation, which can feel exhausting over time

Our Treatment Approach for Adult ADHD

Adult ADHD support works best when it starts with an accurate assessment and a plan that fits your goals and daily life. At Valens Clinic, we combine clinical expertise with practical, evidence-based strategies, tailored to how ADHD shows up for you

Accurate Assessment: Beyond the Checklist

We go beyond symptom checklists. Your assessment looks at your history, current challenges, and how ADHD affects work, daily life, and relationships, with attention to executive function and focus patterns

Differential Diagnosis

Some issues can look like ADHD, such as anxiety, sleep problems, or medical factors. We assess these overlaps to support an accurate diagnosis and the right treatment direction

ADHD-Focused Therapy (CBT)

ADHD-specific CBT helps you build practical coping strategies and reduce patterns like procrastination and overwhelm. It also supports emotional regulation and the self-criticism many adults develop over time

Coaching and Practical Systems

Coaching turns insight into action. We help you build tools for time management, organisation, prioritisation, and follow-through, using realistic systems that fit your routine

Medication Management (When Appropriate)

When clinically appropriate, medication may support attention and impulse control. Options can include stimulant medications such as methylphenidate, or non-stimulants such as atomoxetine, with careful monitoring for safety and fit

Lifestyle and Environment Support

Sleep, stress, exercise, nutrition, and distractions can strongly affect ADHD symptoms. We help you optimise daily habits and your environment to support steady focus and energy

Meet Our Adult ADHD Specialists

At Valens Clinic, adult ADHD care is led by DHA-licensed psychiatrists and psychologists with experience supporting neurodiversity. We recognise that ADHD is not a lack of ability or motivation. It is a difference in how the brain regulates attention, planning, and impulse control, and it can come with both challenges and strengths.

Many of the adults we see are high-functioning professionals who have learned to push through, even when focus, organisation, and follow-through feel harder than they should. Our team understands the realities of Dubai’s fast-paced work culture and the hesitation some people feel about seeking help. We take a respectful, practical approach that focuses on accurate assessment, evidence-based care, and tools that support real life.

Most importantly, we work with you as a whole person. We do not reduce you to symptoms. We aim to help you understand your ADHD, build strategies that fit how your brain works, and create a plan that supports your goals over time

FAQs About Adult ADHD Treatment

Our Clients Mostly Asked Questions

1. How is adult ADHD diagnosed?

Adult ADHD is diagnosed through a comprehensive clinical assessment with a qualified psychiatrist or psychologist. At Valens Clinic, this includes detailed interviews about your current symptoms, your developmental history (including childhood), and how these challenges affect work, relationships, and daily life. We may use validated rating scales, but diagnosis is not based on a checklist alone. We also look at long-term patterns and rule out other factors that can mimic ADHD, such as anxiety or sleep issues

2. Can I be diagnosed even if I was not hyperactive as a child?

Yes. Many adults with ADHD were not obviously hyperactive as children. Some were mainly inattentive, daydreamy, quietly distracted, or high-achieving and compensating. Inattentive ADHD can involve forgetfulness, distractibility, and executive function challenges without visible hyperactivity. A childhood without hyperactivity does not rule out ADHD

3. Is ADHD assessment and treatment covered by UAE insurance?

Coverage varies by insurer and policy. Some plans cover psychiatric consultations and certain ADHD medications, while coverage for therapy or coaching may be more limited. We recommend checking with your insurer about ADHD assessment, follow-up appointments, medications, and psychological therapy. Our team can support with the required documentation for claims

4. What is the difference between ADHD coaching and therapy?

They serve different goals and can work well together.
Therapy (including ADHD-focused CBT) helps with emotional patterns and coping skills, such as stress, self-criticism, emotional regulation, and strategies for executive function challenges
Coaching is more action-focused and practical, supporting systems for time management, organisation, prioritisation, and accountability toward specific goals.

5. Will ADHD medication change my personality?

The aim is not to change who you are. When medication is clinically appropriate, it is used to reduce symptoms that get in the way of focus and follow-through. Many people describe feeling steadier and able to access their strengths more consistently. We start with careful dosing and adjust based on your response. If something does not feel right, we review and change the plan

6. How long does treatment take?

ADHD is often ongoing, but the level of support can change over time. Assessment and treatment planning typically take a few weeks. If medication is part of care, finding the right option and dose can take 1 to 3 months. Therapy or coaching may run for several months, with some people continuing longer and others moving to occasional check-ins. The goal is to build tools you can maintain, not to stay in intensive support indefinitely
