What does one-to-one therapy with a therapist in Dubai give you?
Individual therapy is private. The clinic’s individual therapy page describes a space to process emotions, challenge your reactions and learn new tools. A therapist works towards your goals, and the page lists anxiety, depression, OCD, grief and loss, trauma and relationship difficulties among the concerns it covers.
The clinic matches you with a clinician before you start. Its page says the system helps identify the most suitable clinician for each person.
What does group therapy add?
Group therapy puts you in a room with people who share a struggle. The clinic’s page says hearing similar experiences reduces isolation and builds a sense of belonging.
The page also describes practice. In a structured setting, participants practise how to listen, express emotions and set boundaries, and the page says better communication carries over into relationships outside therapy. Two practical claims sit in the same text. Group sessions cost less than individual ones in many cases, and groups reduce waiting times. The page gives no fee and no waiting time.
Can you have group and individual therapy together?
The clinic says yes in principle. For many people, its page explains, the group handles interpersonal challenges while private sessions stay on personal issues. The clinic’s FAQ on eating disorder recovery groups makes a similar point: group support complements individual work rather than replacing it.
A useful question for the first session: what do I need to practise, and what do I need to say in private? Communication, boundaries and loneliness suit a room full of people. Raw personal material may need a one-to-one space first. Your therapist decides with you.
What should you ask before joining a group at a Dubai clinic?
The group therapy page describes benefits and gives no operating details. Five questions fill the gap.
- Is a group running now for my concern? The page names anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship issues as areas its groups address, but it lists no current groups.
- Who leads it? The page says the clinic’s psychologists and psychiatrists run its group programmes. It names no one.
- How many people join, and how frequently does the group meet? The site gives neither figure.
- What are the privacy rules? Other members hear what you say. The clinic’s FAQ says staff discuss you with no one but you unless you authorise contact, and it describes no ground rules for fellow members.
- What does it cost against individual sessions, and does insurance apply? The FAQ says the clinic accepts insurance from most major UAE providers and offers self-pay options. It does not say how either applies to groups.
Ask about groups and one-to-one in the same email
Write to info@thevalensclinic.ae or use the clinic’s contact form. Ask the coordinator which formats suit your concern and which groups are running now. You can read about individual therapy first. Every Valens clinician holds a licence from the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or the Community Development Authority (CDA).
