Escape Anxiety and the Negative Feedback Loop

The term anxiety defines the state of uneasiness, worry, or nervousness. These occur because of things that are beyond our control. In today’s day and age, despite all the development and modernism, people are still unable to overcome the feeling of distress that occurs because of insecurity and inability to cope with the situation.

When anxiety hits, for some people, the clock begins to tick, as they start to get panic attacks. Most of the time people tend to get overwhelmed with anxiety when they get interfered with by someone regarding family, work, or friends. The National Institute of Mental Health stats indicate that in the United States, more or less 19 million adults face anxiety on an ongoing basis. It includes people with socio economic levels, ages, education levels, and ethnicities. This is because a negative feedback loop psychology starts to take place. The social situation and reasons may be different that generate a different kind of a response. While some of them include dealing with phobias, others may lead to emotional meltdown depending on the situation at hand.

There are two types of anxiety signs that usually take place. These are as follows:

General Symptoms of Anxiety

The general symptoms of anxiety include sleep difficulties, irritability, muscle tension, worriedness, and restlessness.

Symptoms that lead to Panic

The symptoms that lead to panic include sweating, trembling, heart racing, fear of dying or losing control, chest pain, hot flushes, numbness, nausea, and shortness of breath etc.

The Negative Feedback Loop

The negative feedback loop psychological issues occur when the brain gets used to a certain feeling that starts to become frequent over time. The physical or mental reaction, environmental cue, or a trigger point are some of the reasons that lead to anxiety. This is because these types of events overlap one another and may lead to people struggling with stress. Even if a person is successful in avoiding the situation for a time being, in the long run, these events come back to haunt the person. There are two reasons for that i.e., lack of positive experience and helplessness to dealing with the situation.

How to Deal with The Negative Feedback Loop Psychology

Ask your Physician

If you want to deal with negative feedback loop psychology, the first rule of thumb is to consult a physician. They will carry out your physical examination such as blood tests to determine whether it may be due to physiological changes e.g imbalance of endocrine like hyperthyroidism.

Reviewing Thought Provoking Situations

Think of a situation that may trigger your anxiety, e.g., going to a party. How do you consider the situation may affect you? You may think that people may not like to hang around or you may not have the words to engage in communication with anyone in sight. In such a scenario, see as if they are critical, negative, or harsh with you. Think as if your friend is going through the same situation and you are the one to answer. How would you react to the scenario at hand? You would like to have your balanced, empathetic, or kind response. Now put yourself in the same situation and consider moving forward regardless of whatever happens. All you have to do in this situation is to show courage and do not back down from the challenge.

Using Distraction to your advantage

One way to escape anxiety and negative feedback loop psychology is to become distracted. It is one of the most effective ways to do, when you have no other alternatives in mind. It is the perfect way to avoid the unknown or the inevitable. For example, if you have a big project at hand, then watching a YouTube video of the puppies is a choice that may seem strange. However, by doing so, you may end up feeling way better and may ultimately help in getting the job done. But the problem is that distraction does not always help in overcoming the scenario. It may also happen that you may end up getting anxious for another reason instead, because the problems never seem to end. Yet distraction seems to be a blessing in disguise, however, it is necessary that you should choose your distraction wisely.

Conclusion

On a concluding note, a person should have an idea of how his/her mind works. Even though there is power in self knowledge, however, when working with our brains, our effectiveness increases and boosts to a higher level.
