Which reasons count?
Any of the usual ones. The clinic’s individual therapy page lists anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anger, grief and loss, trauma and life transitions, among others. Some entries are diagnoses. Others describe a situation, such as a transition or a loss. A situation is enough to book.
What does a psychologist do about a diagnosis?
The clinic’s FAQ says a psychologist assesses, diagnoses and treats using talk-based therapy and psychological testing. The psychologist page names the methods: tests, interviews and observation. A first session starts with your concerns, history and goals and ends with a suggested approach.
The diagnosis matters later, for treatment. The individual therapy page says a clinician selects the method, or blend of methods, best suited to your diagnosis and goals. Think of the diagnosis as the clinician’s working map. You can arrive without one, and the first sessions help draw it.
Should you start with a psychologist or a psychiatrist?
The clinic’s FAQ draws the line plainly. Medication needs point toward a psychiatrist, and talk therapy points toward a psychologist. A psychologist cannot prescribe medication. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can. The FAQ says seeing one does not mean you will end up on medication. Many people see a psychologist for therapy and add a psychiatrist when medication forms part of care.
The FAQ says you need no referral to see a psychiatrist in Dubai. You can book directly. The site states no referral rule for psychologists, so ask when you book. If you are unsure which to choose, the FAQ says front-desk staff can help match you with the right clinician.
Will your insurer ask for a diagnosis first?
Some insurers may. The psychologist page says many insurance companies request a psychiatrist consultation before referring you to a therapist. The clinic’s booking FAQ names Nextcare, GIG Gulf and Mednet among its direct-billing networks. It says staff confirm coverage and availability before your visit. A suggested question for booking: does my plan need a psychiatrist’s note before therapy sessions?
Who sees a diagnosis once you have one?
The clinic’s confidentiality FAQ says it abides by the DHA regulations in force in Dubai. Clinicians and staff communicate with no one but the patient unless the patient authorises contact. Reports and sick notes go out at the employee’s request, and never to an employer directly without consent.
If you want to know what goes into your record and who can see it, ask the clinic before your first visit. The site’s FAQs do not answer the question in detail.
