I moved from Germany to Dubai 8 years ago. What an impressive, vibrant and rapidly growing city. I am always fascinated by how quickly new projects are realized here.
Of course, this also requires a great deal of hard work from the population here in Dubai.
Especially for young mothers who have to take care of their small children in addition to their professional responsibilities, this is a great challenge and also a burden.
Therefore, it is incredibly valuable for families in Dubai to have the opportunity to get support from in-house nannies.
Most European countries do not have this concept at all. This also allows young mothers to return to work quickly.
Today I would like to find a few words of appreciation for these wonderful nannies.
In my opinion, they are the silent heroes in Dubai.
Children are our future, so we should do everything we can to invest in their mental and physical health.
Most of the nannies here in Dubai come from the Philippines. This means that most of them leave their own families and children thousands of kilometers behind to look after “foreign” children in Dubai.
I think this alone is an outstanding emotional and moral achievement. But simply observing the warm-hearted interactions on the streets, parks and playgrounds of the nannies with the children entrusted to them is also so touching.
The enthusiasm and idealism with which they try to give the children the best possible support in their personal development is fascinating.
For me as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist and -psychotherapist in Dubai, these silent heroines are also an incredibly valuable source of information in my consultations.
The nannies often have a very good view of the family dynamics and potential factors contributing to the child’s mental health challenges.
Therefore, I can only encourage all parents who seek my help to bring the nannies to the initial consultation with me at any time.
Every observation from someone close to the child is invaluable to me.
And the nannies also benefit from being able to get some instructions on how they can best support the child in the family setting.
